La Vaure was the perfect place for our big three-generation family reunion. From the heated pool to the games room to the yoga studio, not to mention the vast grounds that the little ones loved to explore, there was something for everyone. The cyclists and runners in our group enjoyed exploring the tracks around the estate. The wonderful owners Agnes and her husband put us in touch with the wonderful masseuse, Cher, her care was exceptional, again, something for everyone. Agnès also helped organize a cognac and cocktail tasting at home, Anne-Laure de Conté et Filles gave us a very interesting presentation about her family estate which is a few minutes away by car. The village of Brossac, a ten-minute drive away, has an excellent bakery and butcher. The town of Chalais has a large market on Mondays and is about twenty minutes away. We did not find a caterer for the special evening we had planned to celebrate our 50 years of marriage and suddenly Agnes and her husband concocted a wonderful meal, we can never thank them enough, it was a perfect holiday and we would love to give back.
